B&NES Clean Air Strategy Consultation

We would like to inform you that our six-week public consultation on the Clean Air Strategy and new proposed targets to improve air quality and health is now open, and we would very much welcome your views.

The strategy sets out ambitious new local targets for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter (PM), aligning with the World Health Organisation guidelines to further reduce air pollution across Bath and North East Somerset. It focuses on improving health and helping residents, businesses and visitors better understand air quality issues and the steps we can all take to reduce harmful pollution.

Air pollution remains one of the biggest environmental risks to public health, affecting everyone but particularly our most vulnerable communities such as children, the elderly, and those with existing heart or lung conditions. Evidence shows there is no safe level of pollution, which is why we want to go further to protect our communities.
