Message from St Michael’s Church Community

THE CHURCHYARD!
Attached are letters which the PCC sent out some time ago to all those people who had a loved one buried in the churchyard (and who could easily be contacted!) explaining our problems and plans for St Michael’s churchyard. These letters will give you all a good overview of what we are trying to do.

We have now employed Primrose Garden Maintenance Limited who will be cutting some of the churchyard twice a month. It is not possible for the whole churchyard to be cut especially as we would like to leave some areas of the churchyard to encourage plant and wildlife. As you can see from the pictures I have selected, many churches  are going down this route and cutting paths around the church and through the graveyards. This is going to take us time and we are also going to need your help. There are areas where machines are not able to go but where someone with some gloves and shears could easily spend an hour tidying the area ~ i.e the area where cremated remains are buried.
We are going to have more Church Tidy-Up Saturdays to help plus, a list of jobs which need doing, up in the church porch where anyone can look at it and then tick off the job once they have completed it. How your PCC manages our church yard is evolving so we are obviously very happy if you have better ideas. Please do email me!
