An update on X91 and 99 bus routes, a Free Entry Lakeside Family Fun Day on 20th September and details on funding and summer bus competition

Information Webinar 28th August
We will be holding a 1 hour webinar on Thursday 28th August between 6-7pm to give up to date information about the new timetables for the X91 and the 99 WESTlocal buses which commence on 31st August. A recording will then be available on the WECA YouTube channel. It would be great for people to come to the live event as they will be able to ask questions via chat and get real time responses. Please keep your eyes open for the link on social media.
Lakeside Family Fun Day: 20th September 9-3pm Free Entry
We are holding a family fun day at the Salt and Malt site of Chew Valley Lake. This Free entry event is a collaboration between WESTlocal, The Chew Valley CIC Sustainable Transport Partnership, The Community Farm, Salt and Malt, Pony Farm Bus and Chew Valley Independent Market. We have lots of great activities and workshops to enjoy and people can combine it with a trip to Chew Valley Independent Market, Salt & Malt or The Community Farm for farm tours and the Great Big Squash Harvest https://www.thecommunityfarm.co.uk/events/the-big-squash-harvest
March deadline for funding
As you will be aware our present funding for these WESTlocal buses ends in March 2026 so we have been hard at work lobbying for further funding which we hope will come from the government bus grant. However, we don’t yet know how much this grant will cover (update anticipated to WECA in October) and there will be stiff competition for resources.
Every extra journey taken on the X91 and the 99 between now and Christmas will help us make a case for continued funding.
#rideandshine travel competition ends soon
We just have a week and a half left of this social media campaign to amplify the weca #kids go free offer and encourage more people of all ages to travel by bus. Simply snap a picture of yourself on the bus, post it on instagram and tag @chewvalleysustainabletetansport #ride& shine or post on the Bus Transition in the Chew Valley Facebook group with #rideandshine to be entered into a prize draw
Timetables and leaflets distribution
New timetables from 31st August are now available on the TravelWEST website
and we are attempting to deliver the attached leaflets through doors in due course
we also plan to place them in community hubs.
If you are able to help with distribution please do get in touch.
Very many thanks
